![]() Digital cameras do some processing to try to get it close, but you often still see the colours aren't quite what they looked like in person, and professional photographers will still mess about to get the colours right - or to just boost things to look better.įor example, humans have poor colour vision in dim light. ![]() You can aim to combine the different filters to approximate what the human eye can see, but it's a bit tricky because human vision is so adaptive that you can't just dump the colours you get and have it look like what a human eye would see. For public outreach images, astronomers tend to fiddle around with the colours to produce something that reveals as much interesting structure as possible, rather than what you'd see through a telescope.
